• The section on the hydrosphere looks at water on the Earth. Students investigate the types of water on our planet, the layers of the ocean, ocean currents, and water uses.
• In the study of the geosphere, students make models of the layers of the Earth, plot earthquakes and volcanoes and relate them to locations of plate boundaries, investigate the topography of the ocean floors, and look at faults, fossils, rocks, minerals, and soil.
• The section on the atmosphere has students making a model of its layers, looking at the various properties of air, graphically representing the different gases found in our atmosphere, and learning about clouds and weather fronts.
• The final section on interactions includes activities that explore the unequal heating of land and water and the resulting effects on weather/climate, and the processes of weathering and erosion.
